BEEF ULATH

Ingredients:
Beef - 1/2 kg
Onion - 2 nos
Tomato - 1 no
Ginger - 1 piece
Garlic pods - 4 - 5 nos
Green chillies - 2 - 3 nos
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - A few
Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
Salt - As reqd
Coconut/Sunflower oil - 3 tbsp

For the Masala:
Cinnamon (Karugapatta) pieces - 2 nos
Fennel seeds (Perinjeerakam) - A pinch
Cloves (Grambu) - 3 - 4 nos
Cardamom (Elakka) - 2 - 3 nos
Peppercorns (Kurumulaku) - 5 - 6 nos

Preparation Method:
1) Clean the beef and cut it into small pieces.
2) Grind together the ingredients for masala and add 2 tsp of water to it to make it into a paste.
3) Put the meat into a pressure cooker.
4) Add ground masala, turmeric powder and salt a cup of water.
5) Cook till meat becomes tender.
6) Heat oil in a pan.
7) Add chopped onions and curry leaves and saut? till onion turns golden brown.
8) Add ginger-garlic paste and green chillies.
9) Add tomato and saut? well.
10) Add cooked beef to this and fry.
11) Fry till the gravy gets dried completely.
12) Garnish with grated coconut and coriander leaves.
Special Note: Serve with steamed rice/fried rice/chappathis.
