When choosing the right digital camera megapixels is not everything, although having a high megapixel camera does help. When choosing a camera ask yourself what you will be using my future camera for? small and compact for random shots or professional quality photography. if your looking for a small compact camera find a few you like then compare them to megapixels, optical zoom, screen size and how it looks. When looking for a serious camera I would go for an SLR Camera which are made by many companys, find a camera body you like, then look for lenses that will work with that cameras lense mounts. There are many types of lenses Telephoto, Super Telephoto, Fisheye, Macro, Wideangle and Etc when looking for a lenses i would look for one made by your cameras manufacturer they work better in certain lightings and environments. Aslo when you are looking for memory cards for your camera make sure you buy the same type that your camera requires Xd, Compact Flash, SD, Mini-SD, Etc. Once you find the type of memory your camera requires look for speed and size.
