Is My Door Left or Right Handled?
Door Handing
Handing of a door is required when buying door handles or levers as inside or outside trim. Some styles of door levers are handed, usually due to a curved design. There are left-handed levers and right-handed levers. To determine the appropriate handing for your door, look at the hinges from the exterior side of the door.
Note: There is one exception to this rule…single dummies. When handing a single dummy you stand on the side of the door that you are mounting the dummy on, not the exterior side.Right Handed:
If the hinges are on the right and the door swings in you need a right-handed lever.
Left Handed:
- If the hinges are on the left and the door swings in you require a left-handed lever.
Right Hand Reverse:
- If the hinges are on the right and the door swings out you need a right hand reverse lever.(Only applies to mortise locks)
Left Hand Reverse:
- If the hinges are on the Left and the door swings out you need a left hand reverse lever.(Only applies to mortise locks)
