My favorite pastime is repairing and cleaning vintage jewelry I purchase at Estate Sales or in Antique Shops.

Suggestions for Vintage Jewelry Repair
If you are dealing with a multiple strand necklace that has been made with cloth cord, silk cord or any type of vintage fabric we suggest totally restringing the necklace with tigertail (acculon/beadalon).
1) Take a picture of the necklace before taking ANY of it apart.
2) Then we suggest that you place the necklace out on a fuzzy towel before cutting the strands. This way, you will have the necklace fall in place. The design remains the same.
3) Begin with the bottom strand first and work your way up to the top. If you are missing beads, try to find smaller beads that match the set ??use these beads through out the necklace to increase the length.
While the necklace is apart, clean the clasp or totally replace it if necessary.
