Mannequin Heads
Mannequin heads …….either fiberglass or styrofoam..
Fiberglass is hard and quite sturdy and should last many years…can be painted (or repainted over )and sealed. Some come with faux eyelashes..sometimes they get loose so if you are going to paint a mannequin make sure to” paint on” some lashes incase they fall off ..otherwise just glue them back on…Some have ears and holes to put in earrings.
Styrofoam are light and easily dented… but with careful handling can last a long time..Keep them away from any heat source… If painting one use sand paper gently to smooth out the bumps and seams..never spray paint it as they will just get pitted…. use a craft paint or household paint and let dry well after painting ,then apply a sealer.. I like to brush on a MOD Podge sealer, found in craft stores.
The painting of the hair on either styrofoam heads or fiberglass heads– if you want textured hair you can use the squeeze bottles (with fine tips) of fabric paint to make strands of hair.. let dry well , then paint any color you like an seal.
They are both wonderful for displaying HATS,Wigs, Scarves and Jewelry.
