motorsports_mall_online Ending Auctions Early
I want to tell you a story, no its not fiction it actually happened and it can happen to you as well. On the 5th of June 2006 I recieved notice that I had won an auction for a piston kit for my dirtbike (4646151651). Elated to find that I had won it for the meager price of .99 UDS I quickly paid via paypal. On the 7th of June 2006 I received this from …
“The seller, motorsports_mall_online tells us you have mutually agreed not to complete the transaction (e.g. because you returned or are returning the item for a refund or because there was a misunderstanding) and has requested a credit for their eBay fees.”
This was lie number one…..
On June 9th 2006, armed with this information I emailed the seller (seemed reputable enough, passed my “pre bid criteria”) the response was……
“Sorry but there was a mistake made when canceling this ad early, the item is no longer available. Thanks very much for your understanding.”
This was lie number two…..
At this poing the only thing I understood was that I won the auction but for some reason had recieved a full refund? After corresponding with “the seller” further, asking questions, etc I received this also on June 9th 2006…..
“Our auction service made a mistake when they canceled the auctions early. It was an honest mistake on their part. You can surely understand that we wouldn’t cancel an auction early just to sell an item for 99 cents.
Thanks again.”
This was lie number three……
It was an outright lie and an insult since they had opened an auction for the identical item at 57x the ending price of my item (4648718923). Both auctions also stated “we stock what we sell”
Having received no satisfaction through communicating with the “seller” and feeling I had been cheated and that the “seller” had not lived up to their commitment I posted a Negative Feedback on their account. Naturally I was factual and to the point.
This is where it gets tricky. My negative feedback is as follows…..
re niged on auction price, price too low. the same item for sale next day $60
Reply by motorsports_mall_online: Honest mistake made ending auction early, a customer requested Buy It Now price
This was lie number four……
Having left a negative I steeld myself (not really I knew it was coming) for the “retaliation” negative that was sure to come my way.
And here it is…
Honest mistake made ending auction early, a customer requesred Buy It Now price
Reply by xc_racer_72: Honestly didn’t want to sell for the ending price Another neg from lousy seller
Same lie, so we’ll call it lie number 4.2……
So now I have no piston and a well undeserved negative……No problem life goes on….right?…….
It seems that I was to be given the truth at the expense of another unfortunate soul. This person had evidently received the same email from Ebay asking if the “transaction had been mutually withdrawn”. This buyer had also been lied to and cheated out of what was rightfully and lawfully their property. And finally this poor fellow had been the victim of spiteful retalitory negative feedback from a seller who it seem to tell the truth was not an option. Here now is that feedback exchange………(drum Roll)….
seller cancelled after I paid. The same item still listed as buy now for much m
(Sounds Familiar eh????)
Reply by motorsports_mall_online: We canceled 4 auctions 8 days early, items were priced wrong, refunded instantly
So I’ll leave to to finish the story. There are many lessons to be learned here most of them I am certain you can relate to as you probably learned them as a child. But Buyer Beware when it comes to leaving unwarranted negative feedback, paying for your item, communicating with seller, bidding, looking at auctions, you just never know what you’ll get for your .99 cents
