NO HD ANTENNA? MIKE GODARS COMMENTS
No HDTV antenna? This is NOT true.
Terk designed an outdoor antenna specifically for receiption of HD signals back in 1998.It was a feature of the 1999 CES show in Las Vegas.
It reminded me of a rolling pin used on old washing machines of the 1920s.Terks HD antenna listed at $350.00 .
It was a bad concept product since any common indoor or low priced multi element outdoor antenna will receive HD signals.
I am a USA antenna manufacturer and list all my TV antennas for High defination reception or “HD”.
Technically all TV antennas that receive a HD signal are considered a HD antenna. This includes all rabbit ears,or UHF only antennas,All outdoor VHF/UHF antennas vintage to new will receive HD digital broadcasts.
High Defination signals are usually transmited on subcarrier UHF frequency’s.HD signals are also transmitted on the VHF band.
All multi band antennas are listed as VHF/UHF and FM.HD is also added since these antennas receive the HD signal.
If the HD or HDTV were not added to an antenna box,no one would buy it. Makes sense?
UHF and VHF terms will fall to the wayside soon. TV antennas will be labled HD or HDTV.
All TV stations in the USA will be digital after Feb 2009. You will need a TV with a built-in HD tuner or a HD tuner box to receive all off air channels.
This change over does not effect cable or satillite cuctomers. It only effects people receiving TV signals free and off air.
Advantages of this change/Crystal clear pictures on ALL channels. No more Ghosts, electrical interference, lines ,distortions ect.
Pictures so clear it like looking threw a window.
All future TV antennas will be labeled” HD/High Defination antenna”.
