Search Engine Optimization Course for Newbies - Part 4

This Section of the SEO, Search Engine Optimization Course covers Key Phrases, your Main Heading Title, your descriptive paragraph in a smaller heading tag, Links using your key phrases and how this will all look on your Internet Web Page.

Once you have found it you will want to place your page description paragraph on your page. I am not going to get into tables and placing it at the right spot on the page the people who wrote your page can probably help you with that or any local html or web site designer. But the key here is to get it onto the page near the top and if possible either centered or towards the left side of the page. We will also want to include a Heading tag so that it appears like a head line to the search engines, this will make it seem one of the most important parts of your page and hence the words contained in that paragraph will be scored better then other words on the page.

It should look something like this using the Voice Recognition key phrases and paragraphs:

<P>
NOTE: the P designates a new paragraph or topic on the page… To the search engines the higher up on the page it is the more important it is.

<H1>YOUR MAIN PHRASE</H1>
NOTE: This is the main headline in large print. Bigger is better right? To the search engines it is.

<H2>YOUR PARAGRAPH<H2>
NOTE: This is your Descriptive Paragraph

<H2><a href=”http://xyz.com/about.html”>Learn more about Voice Recognition Systems</a></H2>
NOTE: Notice the link contains the entire Domain name and the page name you are linking to and Also use some of the KEY PHRASES in the linking text. This is important.

</P>
Note: This ends the paragraph. Now this is what it would look like without my notes:

<P>
<H1>YOUR MAIN PHRASE</H1>
<H2>YOUR PARAGRAPH<H2>
<H2><a href=”http://xyz.com/about.html”>Learn more about Voice Recognition Systems</a></H2>
</P>
If you don’t like how it looks on your page you can easily get almost any web site designer locally to set you up a style sheet so that the headline tags will match the size and color of your page better. Since that is really unrelated to search engines it is beyond the scope of this lesson.

Next we want to look for images within your page. Their code will look like this:

<img src=”index_files/logo.gif” alt=”Voice Recognition Systems” height=”44″ width=”598″>

What we want to do is add or replace an ALT tag there on the image code using our key phrases.

This article will continue in Part 5.
