Why You Should Buy Fragrance Oils and Essential Oils
You probably chose to look at this to see what crazy person was telling you to buy fragrance oils. Well, I’m that crazy person and I’m going to tell you why. So pull up a chair, get a nice cup of tea and sit back to do some reading and thinking.
As you may have read in many other guides on Ebay and on the web, Essential Oils are the best oils to use for aromatherapy and for the special healing qualities they have. This is not in dispute. However… and you knew there would be one… However, Essential Oils cannot be used in some body care products because they are too irritating to the skin. Others cannot survive the high temperatures involved in soap and candle making without evaporating or losing some of their healthful benefits. There are ways to use essential oils in soap and candle making, the maker just has to do it the right way, after things cool down and not before.
So, now we are going to discuss Fragrance Oils. There are many fragrances that do not occur naturally. Without frangrance oils, you, the consumer, would never get to smell their glorious scent. One example is Strawberry. There are also many essential oils that are very expensive. So expensive, that most soapers and chandlers cannot afford to buy them and put them in their products. Some exampeles are: Jasmin sambac, Roman Chamomile, Oman Frankincense, Morocco Rose Absolute, East Indian Sandalwood and Neroli.
In order to sell body products with these items, the soaps and candles would have to be marked much, much, MUCH higher than the rest of a sellers merchandise. This leaves many soapers and chandlers with the dilemma of whether or not they will forego that scent or find some substitute that will allow them to sell a full range of fragrances. Many, like myself, choose to make soaps and candles with essential oils and fragrance oils. All my products are clearly marked showing that only essential oils were used, only fragrance oils were used or a combination of the two were used. This allows you, the consumer, to make your own choice.
Most crafters, soapers in particular, will do all they can to make sure a bar of soap has wonderful, natural healing qualities even if they use a fragrance oil. They might also add essential oils, herbs, special clays, special vitamins like Vitamin E, fruit/plant juices, special ingredients like lavendar buds or even create teas made of healing herbs to be used in their soaps. With all of this effort to make sure they put out a good, healthy product that smells good and can be sold at a reasonable price, I think we should rethink our position on turning our collective noses up at a product listed with a fragrance oil. Instead, find out what else was used to make that product special and healthier. You might be pleasantly surprised.
Now, not all crafters will go above and beyond the call of duty to make the best, most healthy products they can, so be aware and shop smartly. If you don’t know what is in a product, ask. Most soapers and chandlers are only too happy to tell you of the many unique ingredients in their wares. They will probably also share how they made the item using only this top ingredient and that top ingredient with just an ounce of fragrance oil added to the entire batch.
The choice is ultimately yours, but now you are more informed and better educated. Feel confident to go forth and shop. Those items will be clearly marked and specially crafted to include many other natural healing ingredients.
